Standard treatment vs clinical trials

Clinical trials offer access to tomorrow’s treatments today. Understanding how they work helps you decide whether one is right for you.

Standard treatment is current, proven best practice. A clinical trial tests a promising new drug or approach — often against the standard — to prove it works better. Participation is always voluntary and informed.

What participation involves

  • You may receive the new treatment or the standard one
  • Every trial has rigorous safety oversight
  • You can withdraw at any time, for any reason
  • Your standard treatment never depends on your participation

Trials are not for everyone, and that is fine. For some people — especially with advanced or unusual cancer — they open doors that standard treatment cannot yet.
